Meet The Gang

The comedy 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' was the creation of the golden duo Jim Perry and David Croft , who besides 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' also with great succes wrote 'Dad's Army' , 'Are you Being Served' , 'You Rang M'Lord?' and 'Hi Di Hi'.

The series are all about the 'Royal Artillery Concert Party' , entertaining British soldiers , who are on their way to the frontline , by singing - dancing and with some variety acts , during the second world war in India.

It ran from january 1974 until september 1981.
In total 56 episodes were broadcasted when the BBC decided that the serie was unethical towards native Indians - often called 'damned or stupid natives' - and towards homosexuals - often referred to as 'puffs' , 'nancy boys' or 'tarts' -.
This also is the reason the BBC didn't rerun the show in England or release it on any media until recently.
Other countries where the show was aired didn't agree with the moral problems the BCC struggled with and played reruns in the 80's and 90's.

The show was viewed by almost 17 million people in England , and therfore one of the best watched comedy's of alltimes there.
